Episode 1 - Obladee: Wine & Cheese

Meet talented food writer and photographer Jessica Emin as she explores the best of Halifax’s culinary offerings. She explores her passion for Nova Scotia sparkling wine and a number of other wine and cheese offerings with Heather Rankin, owner and sommelier of Halifax’s Obladee, A Wine Bar.

Episode 2 - Vessel Meats: Crafted at The Counter

Let's go behind the counter! Jessica visits with Brianna Hagell, owner and head butcher of Vessel Meats in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to discuss the bespoke butcher shop's whole animal ethos. Brianna’s mission is for people to not be scared of their food, to have customers know how it got to their plate.

Episode 3 - Chasing Chinese: Beyond Chicken Balls

Jessica is joined by Halitube creator and influencer Will Yang to tour three restaurants around Halifax to sample delicious Chinese food that goes beyond the ubiquitous Canadian Chinese options. Jess and will sample spicy fusion cuisine, Northern Chinese comfort food favorites, and even traditional Cantonese dim sum.

Episode 4 - Field Guide: Dining 101

Everyone should have a local watering hole. For Jessica, it’s Field Guide, an intimate restaurant and cocktail bar in the heart of Halifax. Joined by owners Katie Tower and Ceilidh Sutherland, and Chef Natalie Rosen, take a trip through the restaurant’s seasonally inspired food and drink, getting a window into crafting a relatable dining experience with local ingredients.

Episode 5 - Buttered Bliss: Insta to In-Store

We get an inside look at the opening of a fabulous new Halifax café and bakery, Bliss Caffeine Bar. Jess talks to head baker and owner Michelle Boyd alongside co-owner Jenna Oosterholt about their special brand of baking blended with expert coffee service and their beautiful new space. Spoiler alert: it’s a recipe for success.
