Episode 1

With Toronto having well over 75 annual film festivals, and growing, how do they keep going, and who are the filmmakers? Host Thom Ernst sits down with Ariel Smith from ImagineNative Film/Media Arts Festival, Kelly Michael Stewart of Blood in the Snow Festival, Jordana Aarons of Planet In Focus, and Ananya Ohri of the Regent Park Film Festival to discuss the growth and popularity of film festivals in our city.

Episode 2

Join Thom as he sits down with Canadian film icon, actor and director, Art Hindle. Thom has a candid talk with Art about his career progression, and contribution to the film and television industry.

Episode 3

The popular horror movie genre is loved by many. Talking about the renaissance of horror movies, Thom sits down with a panel that knows this genre all too well: director Michael Murran, actor Heidi von Palleske, author Craig Davidson also known as Nick Cutter, as well as director and producer Audrey Cummings.

Episode 4

Meet with influential educators that impart their knowledge and expertise to students in film school. Thom gets to know Michael Coutanche from Ryerson University, Kathilee Porter from Humber College, and Wilson Chan from Raindance Toronto. Are film schools still necessary this day in age?

A good film review will get you thinking, talking, and more engaged with the movie itself. Thom explores a film critics’s mindset with freelance writer Geoff Pevere, senior film writer with NOW Magazine Norm Wilmer, newspaper columnist Nathalie Atkinson, and film critic Radheyan Simonpillai.

At the start of their careers, these mavericks are making people feel something special when you watch their films. Sit down with director, writer, art director Rebeccah Love; director, writer, producer Andrew Cividino; and director, writer, producer Lina Rodriguez.

You have a great film idea you want to get off the ground, but how do you secure funding for it? Thom introduces you to Kristine Murphy from Ontario Media Development Corporation and Stephanie Azam from Telefilm Canada to give you guidance on fundraising.

Can you learn how to develop a good idea, or is it in your DNA? Thom asks this question and more with talented local screenwriters making a big impact in film and television. Meet writer of Below Her Mouth Stephanie Fabrizi; writer, director, and producer of Murdoch Mysteries, Cal Coons; and writer from the show Being Erica, Ian Carpenter.

With two major movies behind them, meet director Matt Johnson and his crew: producer Matthew Miller, and cinematographer Jared Raab. Host Thom Ernst finds out how this group works together so seamlessly, and is challenging the traditional norms.
