Francis Leblanc

My name is Francis Leblanc. I am 24 years old and I feel in my element when working with cameras. In 2010, I received my communications diploma upon which I won honorable mentions from the “Nouveau Cinéma Québécois” jury with my very first short film. This year, I graduated from the Institut Trebas in “Film & Television Production and Postproduction” with the benefit of filling in as Director of Photography, Cameraman, 1st Cameraman Assistant and Boom Operator. Nowadays, I work in various film sets.

What do you feel are the three key elements of a good TV program?

A pleasant and competent team, a good preparation and a well-used subject.

If you could produce, direct or edit any movie, which one would it be? And why?

I would prefer to produce a fantastic film, medieval, since this is the style that joined me most and it imposes great challenges in terms of sets, screenwriting and under any other technical aspects during the filming too.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

The era of the Renaissance; the emergence of “technology” but still with a medieval tone. It is also the right time for engineers and inventors to influence the evolution of the human being.

What was the last movie you saw? What did you think about it?

Kingsman. A great movie full of comedy, violence and a rather original script of its kind. Some 3D effects are weak, but overall, plans, colors and history are all interesting. An entertaining movie to see at all costs!

What would you sing at a karaoke night?

Kara…what? … Probably 4’33’’ of John Cage

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If you were a super-hero, what power would you have?

That anything I can imagine becomes possible, if I decide that it is so. Yes, that’s cheating, but we talk about super power, right?

If you could join any past or current music group, which one would it be?

What do you want to learn at TV1?

A lot of tips to make a good director and photography as much as possible about the camera work.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

Director of photography on various film sets and cameraman in a television production team.
