Anouare Abdou

I chose to be a journalist because I love learning, getting out of my comfort zone and meeting interesting people from all sorts of backgrounds. My first passion is writing: I wanted to be a writer since the age of five. I fell in love with broadcasting while earning a bachelor’s degree in multi-platform journalism at Concordia University. When I am not busy covering stories, you can find me at the gym or working on my novel or on my blog.

What do you feel are the three key elements of a good TV program?

Quality content, entertainment value and a fresh angle.

If you could produce, direct or edit any movie, which one would it be? And why?

The Departed is one of my favorite movies. I love Leonardo DiCaprio and I enjoyed his performance in it. I would love to work with such a talented cast and I would have a lot of fun structuring the film in order to build the tension that surrounds the plot. Also, Boston is an awesome city.

If you could go back in time, what year would you travel to?

I would travel back to the early ‘90s to attend the concerts of a few iconic artists: Tupac, Notorious B.I.G. and Nirvana.

What was the last movie you saw? What did you think about it?

The last movie I saw was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles while on the plane. I loved the cartoon when I was little so I had to see it. It’s not exactly a masterpiece but it was an entertaining, fluffy watch during a flight.

What would you sing at a karaoke night?

I love Karaoke even though I am a terrible singer. I would sing Don’t Speak by No Doubt.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?

If you were a super-hero, what power would you have?

Teleportation. I would love to have the ability to travel anywhere in the world in an instant. And you never have to deal with traffic!

If you could join any past or current music group, which one would it be?

I would join the Spice Girls and fulfill the wish of my nine-year-old self.

What do you want to learn at TV1?

I want to improve my hosting skills and learn about the mechanics of a TV production company.

Where do you see yourself in five years?

In five years, I am still going to be doing what I love to do: meeting people and sharing their stories through different platforms. I am hoping to be a successful video host by then and to have published my fiction novel.
