The Mavens

The Vocalist Magazine has already taken an in-depth look at musical artists in Montreal but it is important to acknowledge that it is never a 1 man show. This is the perspective MAVENS - “A Day in The Life” will take.

In order for an artist to be successful they need to have a strong team, so let’s take a look into these “People who make a difference” / The Mavens in the Montreal’s Music Community.

This Docu-series will answer our viewers’ questions about the multitude of fields that are linked to the music industry by following people in different career paths that assist artists in the Montreal Community. Visually, it will be a mix of a brief interview, a behind the scene look at what their daily job routine consists of in addition to the final product, in this case the final production.

Episodes

EPISODE 1 – SEBASTIEN NASRA

This episode will introduce a day in the life of Montreal-born President of Avalanche Productions, M for Montreal and Mundial, Sebastien Nasra. We will follow him from a busy morning to a big night show at Metropolis.

EPISODE 2 - MICHEL QUINTAL

Being a Program Director of a major festival takes some work, sometimes a lot of work. We will follow Michel Quintal, Program Director and Co-Founder of Igloofets and Piknic Electronik, for one day during the winter festival.

EPISODE 3 - DUKE EATMON

Whatever the source, we’ve come to know Duke Eatmon as the ultimate authority on music in Montreal. This year marks his 25th year in the music arena. We will follow him for one day hosting two radio shows, on CKUT and CBC Radio.

EPISODE 4 - SONNY BLACK

Sonny Black opened his first recording studio in 1998. He became very active on the Hip Hop scene and produced/engineered different successful projects. We will follow him for one day teaching at Musitechnic and recording musician at him home studio.

EPISODE 5 - YZABEL BEAUBIEN (GRANTS CONSULTING)

Yzabel BeauBien has been fundraising for artists and organizations for 25 years. She is the founder of J’Imagine Consultants, grant writing for music, theatre, dance, etc. This episode will also detail about her job and how she is helping musicians.

EPISODE 6 – EVA BLUE

Eva Blue was named one of Montreal’s Best Concert Photographers. Her photography portfolio is quite extensive from Lady Gaga to Metallica. She loves what she does, it shows in every picture and she’s never hesitant to lend a hand either to charities.
