For these women, food is used as a way to evoke memories of home, share their culture, and feel connected to the people around them. Hear their stories, and how they have adapted to living life here in our city after immigrating from their country.


Episode 1

For Lori, living as an Armenian in Toronto can often feel like she is living 2 different lives. To bring balance Lori’s home, family, and community has helped her to stay connected with her Armenian background.

Episode 2

For Qudsia, coming to terms with her husband’s death was one of the most difficult things she’s ever had to endure. She needed to find a way to fight her depression and feel alive again.

Episode 3

Bernice immigrated to Toronto from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. Struggling to feel like she fit in, she now uses food as a way to connect with people around her, and feel like she’s back at home again.

Episode 4

In an attempt to adjust to Toronto life from the Philippines, Luz cooks traditional food to remind her of her mother, and make her feel connected to her childhood and culture.
